VACCINATIONS
The following are guidelines only. Please follow your veterinarians suggestions if they differ.
FVRCP - for upper respiratory and distemper
FELV - for feline leukemia
FIP - for feline infectious peritonitis (controversial) - is a nasal vaccine
RABIES- this is not a requirement at this time, due to no epidemic here in California. Legislation to make vaccinations mandatory in California is underway.
Vaccinations: Cats need a series of vaccinations then an annual booster for life.
The exception may be with distemper. Studies are suggesting that the distemper part of the FVRCP vaccination may last 3 years or longer with one vaccination. This is why many have their feral cats given one FVRCP vaccination when they are trapped for spay or neuter surgery.
